Hello everyone! I started today off with eating an organic red apple, I'm not a big fan of apples, there are many other fruits I would rather eat, but the health benefits surpass my dislike for them so I suck it up and eat them. I picked up this book that I just love, it's like an easy to read guide of some of the healthiest foods. So I try to fit as many of them as I can into my diet. Another food I love to hate is oatmeal. It is a great food for people trying to lose weight, so in the mornings before I go to class I try to eat a bowl of it with a glass of water. Sometimes mixing it with fruit makes it easier to eat!
I will post a video soon of me doing a workout! I went to the gym today and because my gym doesn't allow recording devices I can't show you the workouts that I do at the gym. But, today I just did some cardio on the elliptical. The elliptical is one of my favorite cardio machines. I have knee problems so, low impact cardio is best for me. A quick note for you: You want to try to get in at least 30 minutes of cardio when you workout. It provides the best health benefits. If you are trying to lose body fat, you will want to work up to doing at least 45 minutes because your body doesn't start to burn off the fat until after 30 minutes.
For my post workout snack (which was more like a meal, because I needed more calories for the day) was Albacore white tuna (in water). I will give you my recipe for how I do my tuna down below. I reccomend using the albacore white tuna over the regular stuff because it is better for you.
My tuna: (bare with me, I don't measure things out when I mix it up so I don't really have measurements for you)
1 can of albacore solid white tuna, in water
Mustard
Mayo
lemon juice
Celery
Pickles
Whole grain bread (if you want to make a sandwich)
I mix the tuna with a good amount of mustard, but you can use portions to your own taste, and I squirt in some lemon juice. I use a very, very small amount of mayo. I've never liked the taste of it so I only use a tiny amount to help mix everything, some people like to use olive oil which is fine too, but I prefer mayo. I cut up a celery stalk and pickels, mix it all together and sometimes I add a little salt and pepper. I toast 2 slices of whole grain and flax bread and spoon some tuna onto it to make a sandwich, and then eat whats left in the bowl. If you are limiting your carb intake, you will obviously want to leave the bread out.
Always keep in mind that you will want to limit your weekly fish consumption because of the mercury. 1 Can of tuna is 2 servings.
If you have a yummy tuna recipe you want to share, you can leave it in the comments!
