The weather is starting to get really warm! Who knows how long that will last for though. I wanted to start my blog a little off topic from my workout (I will get to that though!)but, I am an animal rights activist and can't let this go. The other day I was leaving my house to go to the store, I turned the corner heading towards a main road, not going fast because I was still in a residential area, and these men were doing construction on a home. As I was passing this house, out of no where, a small dog shot out right in front of my car. It happened so fast, and was so close to my car, all I saw was a tan blur disappear. I hit my brake in a panic wondering to myself, "what the hell?!? Did I just hit an animal?!?" I have never hit an animal with my car. I looked to the right and the dog had come out the other side and was lying in the grass. I took a second to catch my breath and calm down, looked in my mirror, and there was one of the construction workers smiling, calling the dog back to him. How a pet owner could be so nonchalant about that incident is beyond me. And to not even apologize to me for what had just happened is just, rude. Then when I returned home the dog was still wandering the yard without a leash or some type of restraint. My main point is this: People, please keep your dog on a leash or tie out for your yard. Obviously this dog was not well trained, because he was running wild. But even if your dog is trained and won't attack anyone. You never know what will happen. I would have been devastated if I had hit that poor dog, and it wouldn't have been the dogs fault, nor mine, it would have been the fault of the negligent owner.
Now, for Friday's workout. We did a circuit training type of workout that anyone could do as long as you have a weight, jump rope, and some sort of step. We alternated between lunges, a weighted squat (that was designed to work with a kettle ball), jumping rope, jumping jacks, bicycle crunches, and step ups. The squat that we did was similar to a squat with weights but, you hold the weight down in the middle of your body when you are in the squat, and as you come up, you bring the weight all the way up. I'm not sure if I am describing that well, so if you want a better explanation just ask in the comments. I can't remember the name of the exercise.
Circuit training is really hard for me, I start to feel sick with the fluctuation of my heart rate, so I only really got out one good set. But, my legs are definitely feeling the workout today. If I was in the gym and did a workout in that short time, I would have left feeling like I didn't do enough and I wouldn't have been sore at all today. So, great job to Ricky and Tawna for the workout we did!!!!
I haven't really reported on my weight at all because my weight is constantly going up and down. I don't know what's with the scale but if I went entirely off of the numbers, it would seem like I am doing nothing! Which, I will be honest, it is completely frustrating and can be very discouraging. But, I am seeing some changes in my body, and just by being sore every week assures me that I am accomplishing something, even if that darn scale wants to say otherwise! So I am doing my best to keep at it!!
I also picked up a book of juicing recipes, I got a juicer a week or so ago, so I will start incorporating that into my diet as well. I have a hard time getting enough vitamins, and I have a very weak immune system. I get sick a lot! So I think that, that will help my nutrition, as well as weight loss.
