Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well. This past Thursday was a great day to be outside so I went for a hike in El Derado Hills. I don't know if any of you are familiar with CA, if you're not then it is this really pretty area in Northern CA. I saw some amazing houses driving through there. The hike I went on was considered moderately difficult and it was 6.8 miles long. It was the first hike I have been on since I was like 10 years old. I can't remember if I said this already but, I am not an athlete at all. I can't run, I wish I could but I can't, and I have never really been great at sports. But I want to try things that are going to challenge me more and get me out of the same gym routine. The first hour and half of the hike was pretty OK. It was the hike back to the car that killed me! I definitely think that I was a little over enthusiastic about my first time out. 30 Minutes into the way back, my knee started hurting from going down the hills, and my legs were just exhausted. BUT! I made it. I pushed myself through the pain, I even ran up the hills because it actually made it hurt less. It was a great cardio workout, and definitely a great lower body workout. By the time I got home, everything below my hips was sore. And I slept like a baby that night.
Little did I know, one of my friends was planning on working out on Friday, I thought I was going to be dead from the hike, but I actually woke up feeling ok. So we went to the college we go to, to run the stadium stairs. I was surprised that I made one "rep" which was running up 3 different sets of stairs. We planned on doing two but my legs and feet just couldn't handle it. So then we did a little bit of core work (abs). Then did the nature walk to finish it off. Which is about an hour walk through the trees and stuff that runs along one of the streets the school is on.
And today, I am very, very sore. My legs are killing me today. But it's a good thing! NO PAIN, NO GAIN. Right?!
I have some pictures from my hike. My flip cam died not even halfway through so I'm not sure if I will share the video, but as soon as I upload the pictures I will post them for you all to see.
That's all I have for you right now, so I hope everyone has a good day and I will update you when I do my next workout.
